Welcome to The Good Hand Natural Therapies
The Good Hand offers Natural Therapy Treatments and Tuition
As a Natural Therapist, I believe that the most effective treatments work with your body, mind and inner being, therefore I aim to be flexible in all areas to accommodate clients individual needs. If you would like a combination of treatments/tuition or individual packages please just ask.
There are always special offers for regular clients and specific groups. Please ask about special rates.
I trained 20 years ago in holistic therapies and have been teaching for the last 14 years. I managed the Complementary Therapy courses at a local college for five years and then set up 'The Good Hand' to offer natural therapies and private teaching.
I qualified in Complementary Therapies in 1997 and as a Teacher in 2008. I have continued to progress professionally, building the range of therapies I can offer to my clients and sharing my knowledge with many students over the years as a Lecturer/Manager in Complementary Therapies, Beauty and Health.
I provide a range of holistic therapy treatments. Clients experience a truly personalised service in a relaxed setting. I treat only a small number of clients and teach advanced short courses to qualified therapists. Additionally I am an Independent Neals Yard Consultant and use the organic products in my treatments.
To help people feel better physically, emotionally and mentally. To give part of myself. To respect and honour the trust my clients place in me. I want to give all I can to help you move forward in your life. This is the core to all aspects of my service.
As a therapist, I feel a great responsibility to my clients. They place themselves in my hands, trusting my skill and trusting I won’t harm them or exploit them in any way. Clients can always tell what sort of person is is helping with their therapy through their touch and their attitude. When giving a ‘hands-on’ treatment it is almost impossible to distance yourself and disconnect from the person receiving
the treatment. When I treat people, my aim is to give of myself physically, emotionally and spiritually.
Creating the space for effective therapy means taking time with people and focusing on their individual needs. It means providing you with the sanctuary you need to fully absorb the therapy. My sessions tend to run longer than normal to allow people to fully relax and get the most that they can from their treatment.
Each new client will have a full consultation prior to their first treatment to make sure that I know their exact needs.
Therapy is often not a linear process. People often find they need to vary the treatment to help them move forward. This only becomes apparent during the Consultation Stage. I will work with you to develop a course of individual treatments or tuition/classes that may include a range of different therapies as required.

Some treatments such as sport and RSI will focus on a particular area of the body whereas treatment for more general conditions such as stress and anxiety will normally be moire effective if the whole body is treated.

A therapeutic, hands on treatment that applies pressure and massage to specific areas of the feet or hands.
Reflexology aims to encourage healing and relieve stress and tension. It is also used to improve general health and well-being.
Reflexology is based on the principle that Specific areas of the feet - called reflexes, are linked to other areas on the body through the nervous system. The arrangement of the reflexes has a direct relationship to the area of the body they affect.
Imbalances are evident either through what I pick up or when a client tells me I have touched a sensitive area. Some clients like to talk about this during the therapy and some feel sleepy and prefer to discuss their treatment afterwards. I note all imbalances on a chart. I keep these charts because it helps me monitor
progress across subsequent sessions.
Reflexology is particularly helpful for hormonal imbalances that can cause fertility and menstrual problems.
Reflexology treatment £40.00
Aromatherapy is the practice of using the natural oils extracted from flowers, bark, stems, leaves, roots or other parts of a plant to enhance psychological and physical well-being.
The inhaled aroma from these ‘essential’ oils is widely believed to stimulate brain function. Essential oils can also be absorbed through the skin, where they travel through the bloodstream and can promote whole-body healing.
Massage using essential oils gives the benefits of a relaxing and therapeutic touch therapy with the added effects of the essential oils to help relieve skin problems, muscle tension and emotional stress.
I blend the oils to suit each client’s individual needs so you will have a unique blend to give you the best treatment. I only use organic oils and products because they are more pure and they cause fewer allergic reactions.
I use aromatherapy to help people with
such things as skin conditions (anywhere
on the body), digestive problems,
hormonal imbalances, anxiety, depression, and insomnia.

Indian Head Massage
A hands on treatment for the head, neck, back, shoulders and hair
Indian head massage is based on the Ayurvedic system of healing which has been practiced in India for over a thousand years. The aim of Indian head massage is to release the stress that has accumulated in the tissues, muscles and joints of the head, face, neck and shoulders.
Indian head massage is especially good for relieving stress, tension, fatigue, insomnia, headaches, migraine and sinusitis. The experience is deeply calming and relaxing, leaving the client feeling energised and revitalised and better able to concentrate.
Clients usually sit, rather than lie down, for an Indian head massage so I can get to all parts of your head.
I use organic oils to minimise any allergic reactions. I can add essential oils to treat specific scalp or hair conditions. I suggest leaving the oils in for six to eight hours (or overnight) for optimum effect.
Indian Head Massage £30.00
Hot/Cold Stone Massage
A thermo massage treatment
This massage treatment uses heated basalt stones and aromatherapy oils to give a deep and relaxing treatment. Using heat helps to warm up stiff muscles, helping them to relax and for the massage to have an increased effect. Some cold stones may be used, depending on the desired effect of the treatment.
Hot/Cold Stone massage £45.00

Learn to fully relax and rest your mind
Learning to be mindful allows you to experience deep relaxation, release tension and help yourself achieve a state of physical and mental calm. It does this by focusing on breathing, being mindful of the state of your body, relaxing tense muscles, and meditating to calm your thoughts.
Practicing this kind of relaxation regularly helps you to feel calmer, more relaxed, and better able to withstand stress.
Sessions would include breathing exercises and muscle group stretching to help you relax enough to move on to the main focus of this treatment –visualisation and thought training.
Mindfulness is an important skill to learn in our increasingly hectic lifestyles. You can effectively learn how to deal with
anxiety and everyday stresses without the use of medication.

Baby Massage & Reflexology
Relaxing and bonding time for you and your baby
Massage/ reflexology is an excellent way to connect with your baby and studies have shown that it may help with:
– Improving bonding;
– Building confidence in handling your baby;
– Enabling better communication between you and your baby;
– Improving your baby’s sleep;
– Strengthening your baby’s digestive system and reducing symptoms of wind and constipation.
Although massage is beneficial for all babies over six weeks, it’s particularly useful for those with special needs, such as Down's syndrome or Cerebral palsy, by providing a unique way of communicating with and soothing them.
Massage also stimulates growth and development so it can help premature babies to thrive as well.
There is no right or wrong way to do this! I use a model baby to show basic massage or reflexology techniques. You carry out the actual massage for your baby under my supervision. Each treatment includes some organic baby massage oil and instructions to take home.
We develop a routine to suit you baby. It helps if the baby is calm before we start but sometimes these techniques can be used to show you how to calm your baby down. In any case we will be guided by your baby’s mood.
I can tailor individual packages for parents, grandparents, carers and small groups. Home visits can also be arranged.
Baby Massage/Reflexolgy individual tuition £30.00
Home visits £40.00
